1997 bus

I just bought this 1997 Collins school bus Detroit diesel L65 Allyson automatic transmission. 104 k miles. one owner. it is a 19 passenger with all factory seat belts in all seats. six new firestone tires. complete service history from day one. this has been a preschooler bus meretriciously maintained. has been inspected every 60 days. nearly new batteries. all seats are in good order except drivers seat has small wear tear. Has front and rear heat . It is a 6.5 liter engine. Made by Detroit diesel.. used as generators over seas. dependable. it is designed to get almost twice the mileage of gas engine its size. all gauges work no leaks under it. just changed oil and filter. air filter looks new. transmission fluid has been changed. I paid $4500 for it ? Going to make it into camper. Did get a good buy? !st timer to Schoolie.Thankyou

Did you get it from the school?

I got my 92 Ward up in Elkton KY. Hardly any rust at all. A little at the back door.

Did you get a good deal? Well, just because you asked, someone will probably tell you about the bus he bought for half the price that was bigger, in better shape, and came with a free dirigible. lol If you've already bought it, why worry about whether you got a good deal?

Seriously, it sounds like it should be in great shape mechanically, given the fairly low mileage and good maintenance. As long as it's the right size for whatever you're planning, you will probably be pleased with it. Are you just looking at building a camper for occasional weekends?
