1998 Orion V

Hi

I recently ran across a 1998 Orion V. The seller dosn't know much about it.

It has a Detroit series 50 8.5 with allison push button tranmission (3060? or b400?).

Air suspention front and rear, webasto heater and BIG thermo king AC on the rear over the engine.

The batteries on the bus are dead so I didnt hear it run or drive it.

I'm not sure of the gearing or transmission because I couldn't get under the bus.

Its a 24v system so I'm not sure how much of a pita it would be to get it running. I forget to look if it used 24v batteries or a bank of 6v or 12v.

Any opinions on Orion V or the Detroit 8.5?

Thanks
Ted

Don't know anything about the body but the engine itself is still used in a lot of off-road equipment so parts are still available and as far as I know they didn't start the emissions stuff that hurt a lot of engines power until 2000-01 models of the series 50
Good luck

After some reading it is kind of a strange engine it is a 4 cylinder based on thr series 60 6 cylinder. It has the addition of 2 balance shafts that run through the engine block to reduce vibration. Seems like it might be more complicated than id like to deal with.
