4-speed to Turbo 400 swap
I have a 1981 Chevy C60 bus with a 366 gas big block and 4-speed tranny. I want to put a Turbo 400 in the standards place. Anybody been here? I see a few problems. 1. Mounting - the 366 has a mount on the front and the tranny is mounted at the bell housing. 2. Starter - the starter is bolted though the tranny. I haven't pulled the starter to see if there are holes where a "normal" block would have them. 3. E-brake - is has the brake on the back of the tranny, and even though it's a 400, I don't think the parking pawl will hold it. It was a 71 passenger bus until we cut 25 feet off the body to make it a floatmobile and moving billboard. I'll post pics under "flame bus" ASAP. It now weighs about 12,000 lbs. Again, if anyone has been here I'd apreciate ANY advice. I want to do it once and do it right.
