Greetings from Canada!

I have acquired a classic bus that was converted into a motorhome sometime in the 70s. I plan on gutting it and restoring it to make it a reliable driver. The bus is a good starting point having had an engine rebuild not long ago and was plated and driving when I purchased it. It goes and stops and all the lights work.

The issue is with the rear brakes. The guy doing the safety recommended new drums and shoes for the rear. I brought the parts to an international dealership that was established in the 50s recommended by the mechanic only to be told all the parts are obsolete and unobtainable, I cant even re line the shoes apparently.

This is where I would like to ask for some direction!
Would I be best to try to adapt new brakes to the old axles? New axles entirely? Or do I just need to find the right people to talk to.

I would prefer to keep the machine as original as possible. They dont make things like they used to and the weight of the cast brake shoe assembly inspires confidence.

Absolutely georgous!
I've thought I was through with major projects, but I would give my left nut for the opportunity to upgrade and travel in such a beautiful bus as you have!
Good luck with your project, hope you are able to complete and enjoy the gem you have lucked into.
BTW, what engine/transmission does it have?

Thanks for the compliments on the machine.
The Engine is a Red Diamond 406ci straight six gas and it has an unsynchronized 5 speed transmission of some kind that Im sure will be an absolute joy to learn to shift.
