Re: A couple cool swamp cooler/ AC designs - on DC power
Virtually everyone here in NV has a swamp cooler, even businesses. They work fine if the humidity is very low. I had a portable cooler at Burningman a few years ago, and my 72 watts of solar at the time would not keep up. They also require a huge amount of water. If you're boondocking, forget it just from water consumption standpoint. Look at the component power draw; I suspect that a respectable solar array will operate a properly spec'd unit O.K. And if you travel anywhere where there's humidity, forget it!
The humidity in Winnemucca NV got down to 6%, Yes 6% yesterday!! Any increase in moisture helps Sooooo much! Reduces the amount of red buggers in the nose!
