AC and heat question

I am new to this site and I just bought a 2004 Ford E-450 short Bus. I drive her in a camping trip already and she ran great. I only had 2 things come up that I would love feedback on.
1. My AC and heat isn’t working. Only a little tiny bit of cool air came out. Is this something that other people have run into? Is it an easy fix or major issue. I would like to take the bus up to the mountain during ski season but without heat coming out I don’t know if it would be able defrost the window?!?
2. The engine area got super - super hot. I wore tennis shoes but I couldn’t keep my right foot on the gas due to the heat radiating off the engine area to my right foot. Ideas???
Thanks so much

I have no idea what kind of bus you have.. but I found on my International that the doghouse area was a mess, the floor and doghouse weather stripping / seals needed alot of help .. i took it all apart and Hush-matted the whole firewall area, took apart and seam-sealed the areas of the floor layers (metal / plywood, then rubber) which had separated.. thet made a huge difference..

repairing the A/C if you have it involves troubleshooting it.. if there is cold air but very little air, then I take looking for clogged up duct work, rodent nests, dirt on the inside and outside coils, inside fan motors.. etc..

He has a van based bus, ford econoline 450, lack of airflow means the electronic air door actuators are not working and the heat around his feet is probably the dog house seal leaking
