Alarm

Has anybody ever installed an auto alarm to protect their bus? Any worries about battery discharge?

Re: Alarm

I've used those cheap motion alarms in a garage and it never worked out. It went off constantly. I know more modern ones have finer settings and aren't tripped by rodents and such, the whole bus might move from wind though.

I let my CRV sit unused for a couple months once with the alarm on and there was no problem starting it. I'm guessing the drain is pretty minimal if my little car could go that long on its tiny battery. Maybe there are RV specialized alarms or articles for it somewhere?

Re: Alarm

I was just wondering if anybody secured their baby (bus) with one. I can do the labor, like I said no Edison but am handy and could do the labor myself without any issue.

Re: Alarm

Yup we're just looking into something for our bus, we got broken into a bout 2 months ago. They pryed one of the driver windows out, climbed in unbolted the 2 flatscreens, took the dvd, vcr, dvds, and cds they wanted, and 3 pillowcases for you know what!! Left the cd player, CB and speakers??? I think we want to go with a motion detector with a siren inside and out, and if they have the balls to steal from it when its a howling, then have at it!!

Re: Alarm

i've taken my bus out to plenty of shady places in detroit and flint (both towns have some rough areas to say the least) i've even left my bus running to heat up jacuzzi water for long periods while i was inside a club on several occasions and fortunately never had anyone screw with the bus.....well, there was one time i came out and found someone moved the bus to the otehr end of the parking lot, but nothing was stolen.

my thought has always been that people look at the bus and think "whoever built this thing is obviously crazy" so they just leave well enough alone. That and i guess you can't really tell if there is someone inside or not when it's parked and running at nite.
