Alternate VIN location on my bus?

I'm having an LEO come to my bus tomorrow to do a VIN verification (I have my bus titled in PA but I'm going to get it registered as a Motor Home in VT and the VIN verification is required since this is my first time registering the bus).

The VIN on my bus is displayed on a tag on the ceiling panel just behind the front, on the right side next to the entry door. Unfortunately I removed this panel, and while I do still have the panel in my bus (since I'll be putting it back up later) with the VIN tag still on it, I do not know if the LEO will accept this as the VIN since it's not in place any longer (like, I guess I could have theoretically pulled the panel out of a different bus in order to register my bus with a wrong VIN).

Is there another location where the VIN is displayed (2003 International / AmTran)? I've read that there's one under the hood against the firewall, and though this will make me sound extra-stupid, I don't actually know how to open my hood or where the firewall is.

Should be in lower left side of windshield visible from the outside.

on in ternational CE open the hood and there is a Chassis VIN tag right below the cowl under the hood on the left side.. its usually vertical and is under near or under the brake reservoire or brake valve.

if you must use the panel.. bolt it back into the bus so its permanently attached in its original location..

my red bus was missing the sticker inside altogether but the VIN tag under the hood was what LEO used to verify..

My Ward had no vin anywhere I could find. Just a worn out plastic tag.

This may all be a moot point. I just noticed this on the Vermont VIN verification form:

Quote:
VIN verifications performed out-of-state must be accompanied by a letter of identification of the agent on their department or agency's official letterhead and are subject to approval by the Vermont Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.
I feel like I'll be lucky if the police even come out to do the VIN check at all. I can't see them writing a letter as well - hopefully this is some kind of stock thing that they have sitting around.

how about on a Thomas?

I pulled the forward bulkhead panel as well. I haven't looked but remember wondering about a second VIN spot myself. Didn't throw away that panel mainly because of the big Thomas print in it, but also because of the VIN. May have to go look before my second cup of coffee!

I need another cup. My 5:30 cup has worn off.

Usually takes two cups or a pony motor to peel my ass out of the chair in the AM. Still pretty dark here at 6:40 , but no VIN tucked at the bottom of the windshield like a vehicle on this Thomas. I did however, find a matchbox car tucked in a corner that I have no idea how to access without dismantling the dash.

Just had a quick call with a guy from the Vermont DMV - he says in my case, since the PA title is already in my name (i.e. it's not an out-of-state title transferred to my name) the VIN verification form is NOT required.

Woo hoo! I hope, anyway. My experience so far with skoolie stuff is that I never get the same answer twice from different people working for the same organization.
