Alternator removal on flat nose bus

Hi all,

Been a few years since I have been on but life has a way of getting in the way of fun times sometimes.

Well I am back and working on the bus. On my travels, my alternator crapped out.

I need to remove it and have it rebuilt or buy a new one.

This is for a 1986 Blue Bird 8.2 liter DD with automatic.

So to the first question is how and the heck do you remove it?

Through the doghouse?

Remove the front panel, remove the radiator to get at it.

I'm lost on this.

Also any suggestions on where to get a new one?

Also any good suggestions on finding a good fuel control solenoid? That crapped out too and the one I got was junk out of the box.

in advance.

hey there, sorry to hear of your woes...

there aren't too many 8.2DD around here, but im sure someone knows a thing or 2 about them.
i have a cummins 5.9. i took its alternator off laying on top of the motor thru the doghouse.

the expense of going through the front and radiator, new fluids and hoses, would make that the expensive way to go.

Good luck

Never looked at that motor, but you may be able to get to it by turning your wheels all the way "out" and gain access via wheelwell

I had to fully remove the dog house to get it off. Could have done it with the lid up but it would have been cramped.
