Thanks Nebuch. I had read that thread but that was for an already converted bus. I'm just wondering if anybody here is in the NY area that might have bought an original school bus and knows what has to be changed by law.
Well in upstate NY guys buy bus's all the time and drive them around for dirt racing and such. When it comes to NYS V&T laws as long as the red lights are not flashing its technically just a truck. Most guys spray paint the "school bus" signs black but thats about it.
If I ended up with a school bus that still had decent paint, I'd be tempted to keep the yellow scheme with some minor customization. Thanks for your reply theicomman.
Normally it's the same in most states. You must remove all School Bus markings from the bus, disable or remove all the flashing warning lights, remove the stop sign, and paint it any color other than yellow.
