Battery location on RE buses
Riddle me this, Batman,
Anyway, why are the batteries on some (mine) RE buses in the front, under the driver? Wouldn't it be easier to have the battery(s) as close as possible to the engine starter so that the cable (positive) could be shorter and smaller to carry more load, not to mention, safer.
My bus has two 8-D batteries up front, which I do understand have a whole lot more going on besides the starter, but I do know that two group 30 batteries (24 Volt) back by the engine would suffice to start the bus.
FWIW, I would think, 40 feet of 12 gauge to switch a solenoid, would be better than 40 feet of 1 gauge or 00 gauge. Not sure what size, but its big.
