How does the channel interfer with hanging metal?

I just figured that would work! Thought I read a build thread where 5" was used. I can go a full 10" on each side I suppose

I think you are adding strength exponentially by welding more than 20" per splice. Gonna be way stronger than before.
I didn't say 5 was not enough, and by more, I meant I would go 6". Any more is wasted material.

More is more. I went ten inches overlap on each end. Its not like its going to hurt.

I bought my hat channels from a company called "Colorado custom coachworks" They sell them in 3 different lengths, 12", 16", and 20" long. They cost me $20 each. Same price for either size. They matched my channels exactly and just need to be welded in place.

14" on a TC1000? Are you sure? With that short wheel base and small tires they're hard enough to keep on the road with a little side wind.

Two members of this forum got channel from them and were disappointed. CCC doesn't respond if you have problems. Took people MONTHS to get what they ordered.
