Re: Best place to find Cheap Windows?

Can you bear to have used windows? I once picked up a pile of single pane windows that came out of a wrecked RV. I found it while driving from Chattanooga to NC... in GA. I had bought them for the Eagle but when it came time to pack up and move, the windows went the way a pile of our other stuff (trash or recycle).

There is a list of salvage yards here on the forum...

Don't forget to check your local junk yards.

Re: Best place to find Cheap Windows?

Where are you? Lots of stuff in Northern Indiana, less than $100. Even with shipping they shouldn't get that high. Search e-bay for some ideas. The two best in the Indiana area you have to visit in person.

Re: Best place to find Cheap Windows?

If this is what you have,Bristol Lodekka FLF6B, the picture I just found has huge windows. I'm not sure you will find anything that big used on rv's at least not inexpensive ones. Are you replacing them with windows that open for ventilation or some other reason?

Re: Best place to find Cheap Windows?

I would have to suggest zero pain. I could be convinced of double pane, however

Re: Best place to find Cheap Windows?

I had broken some of my Lodekka windows, the best deal was to get them made from manufacturer, costs about 100€ each in Germany.
BUT: 2 times I ordered from 2 different dealers, 2 times they made crap because of the round edges, none of them was capable to do them right.
First one gave my money back, I had to throw the windows away.
Second one had about 1cm more on the bottom edge, I realized that only after killing the first window when trying to put it in.
When I ordered the new windows to be made I had an original with me to take the mesures, the cretin who received me was surely drunk or I don't know how this could be happened...
After I told them they proposed to come over to me and to fit them, cutted up my new rubbers and shot on each window rubber about 3 or 4 cartouches of sealant.
It's still NOT tight when heavy raining, I could just kill them idiots. Not only the rubbers are not cheap, shipping from UK to Germany is almost expensive... I think it was half the price of the rubbers!
Another guy told me after that it had been cheaper to do the windows with another kind of glass they can cut but thicker and to seal them like on new buses without rubbers, only sealant, problem is the original aluminum frame with the openers what cannot be fitted anymore so you can't open the window.
I'm pretty sure the guys from Carglass have some ideas about making new windows which you can open, but no idea about the price...
The only one they got right was the first one on the right side, round everywher, they made template from the other original window and sent this plastic template to the glass manufacturer.
