Brake Kleen Paint Stripper....

Here's a crazy question...
Everyone always warns about how easily brake cleaner will remove paint.
Would using something like that to strip away the old paint, decals, and adhesive residue work?
Or would it leave a film that wouldn't allow the metal to be repainted?

i keep it in stock for cleaning parts.... if it could remove paint, i would have long ago used it as a paint remover...
Oven cleaner..btw.. does work if you got cast iron heads, etc that need cleaned.

So is it brake cleaner... or brake fluid? Maybe it was the fluid that was the big boogieman. Either way, I'm still very curious what others think.

So all I can speak from is my experience, and it will stripe the paint off almost anything it sits on. I have a few VWs that have had the paint under the fenders slide off after cleaning the brakes. If you want to use it for that I would buy the cheapest stuff, as the more expensive ones are low VOC, friendly to the earth thing.

Had a friends ex-gf get po'd at him and after spraying brake fluid all over his hood ... yes, it bubbled the hell out of it... lesson learned.
