Re: Bus for towing

I think you have a good idea but a lot of buses can vary in rear end gear ratios. Being a drag car I am sure you know the trade offs of gear selection. Not sure how far you travel but finding one with the ideal gear ratio is what you want or... put the ratio you want in?

I think putting in slides is going to be a LOT of work.

Re: Bus for towing

wanted to bump this back up to the top. I'm in the same predicament. Racing all over the country and our short trips involve a lot of hills in the process. I've read that some of the auto trannies are non lock up as well. Is there certain models to look out for and others you would want. Really looking for some real world experience as to seeing who has actually towed a decently sized trailer (24ft tag along) across the country or for extended periods of time. I like the idea of a well built skoolie and the beef it would have. Frame rails, decent diesel, build it how you want it.

Yet I dont want to haul across the country at 55mph. My megacab is usually pulling right around 70-72mph @ 10k fully loaded.
