Bus length

Is there a method for determining bus length when touring school buses?

One of the top priorities for us in bus buying is it HAS to be 40 ft and no shorter. We have a family of 5 and growing so we need every single square inch available. We are looking for a flat nose rear engine 40fter because based on what I've read those provide the maximum interior space and a cooler, quieter drive than FE. So we are going to TX next week to veiw a bunch of buses and I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb on determining length since many sellers just list seating capacity. 37.5 foot is not long enough for this big family.

Thanks in advance

You may want to consider a 45' coach. It can be a more expensive option but you can get the extra five feet as well as huge storage bays underneath.
