Bus sitting 2 years

Would their be any issues to look out for in a 20 year old bus with low miles 100k that was running great with new tires that was taken out of service and has been sitting for 2 years(besides the starting batteries)? it has a 5.9 and auto allison

nah all mine have sat and were fine. Put some diesel kleen in the fuel, top it off frequently with fresh fuel. Change the oil and check the fluids and tire pressure. Put some grease into every fitting you can find.
lots of buses sit its usually alright.

this is probably a stupid question but would you say definitely change the oil before driving it home 600 miles?

it would be safer for the motor.
not knowing when the last time/mileage it was changed and only guessing at how much moisture has accumulated in it from setting or any issue's the engine might have.
i would be more concerned with the fuel as well.
but they make an additive for that and definitely pick a couple of spare fuel filters.
the water in the oil will burn off if the oil is good and not alot of water.
the tires could be flat spotted from setting and might feel like a rough ride and or steering until they round back out.

I've never changed the oil on any bus I've bought right away I just bring em home carefully and make sure the levels are good . I check to make sure there's a proper level, make sure to keep some extra oil on hand (they use a bit usually). Once I get home I do a full change with fuel and oil filters and I even do the trans oil too.
I'd probably bring a grease gun and hit the u-joints since its sat. That's easy enough.

Nice! Congrats. The shorter buses are always more sought after and thus more valuable.
Enjoy the ride home and just remember to take it easy, keep topping off the fuel since what's in there is old presumably. and keep an eye on the oil level.
