CARPENTER BUS ROOF COLLAPSE ISSUES!!

I found this while researching latest find

This affects all model carpenter buses manufactured at the Mitchel indiana plant prior to closing in 1995

While my ancient bus is a Superior, I still scurried to the shop to check for similar defects. Fortunately Superior ran their "roof bows" from the floor on one side of the bus to the other. I hope others will check their units just in case! Thanks for the heads up!

This is good info for those of us who don't have buses yet...and another reason for busless Skoolies to go ahead and join Skoolie.net even when the purchase may be some time down the road.

Also a point to ponder with regard to roof raises: how to do one right...or whether to do one at all.

I wish it were more clear whether the broken welds could occur on any Carpenter built in Mitchell, or specific production runs. My basic knowledge of metalworking tells me that the quality of the welds themselves could be a factor as well as location.

other ones not on the notice have 1 pc roof bows(not 5 pcs welded together)
