Carpet Alternative

I'm planning wood flooring, but saw some interesting alternatives to carpet for something to protect the "traffic area" down the center.
Quite a selection of patterns to choose.

I think wear and tear is what laminate is known for. It holds up better than just about anything other than maybe tile. But of course tile wouldn't make it on a bus.
