I suppose why none of the Crown guys have chimed in is because the Crown curved glass windshields are made of unobtanium.

You might check Curved Glass. They might be able to help.

I am sorry for not responding sooner. This Crown guy knows how rare curved Crown windshields are in today's Crown market. First, Crown did not make that many of them. It was a very expensive option. Second, as they are getting crushed here in California the supply keeps getting smaller and smaller. I have a Crown tandem with curved windshield and have found two complete sets of replacement windshields from my client school districts. They are going into my Crown parts storage shed on my property in case I need them in the future. I have been told that to replace them through a custom glass manufacturer would cost you $5,000. The original Crown molds are long gone. Remember each side of the windshield is a different shape. You can't interchange them. Hopefully yours are not broken. I will be more than happy to look for spare windshields from my clients (I have 170 school districts). Send me a personal message and we can exchange information. Crowns are great. But Crowns with curved windshields are just awesome.

no offense, crowns are beautiful buses, but 5k and a whole bunch of hassle just to find something like glass doesn't sound like anything I'd ever think of owning.
Sounds like these are becoming rare and coveted items.

This.

I live in a bus to save money.

Some seem to live in a bus to spend money.

If I owned a Crown, I would just change the opening over to using flat glass. $300 vs $5000.

I will most likely never own a crown for anything other than resale to some one silly enough to buy the money pit.

Crown Envy

OK Allwthrrider, it is clear that Nat_ster has Crown Envy.

Nat_star, you are absolutely right that Crown's curved windshields are far too expensive. Most Crowns were made with the flat windshields (like my '88 Crown and Allwthrrider's '88 Crown). However, if a skoolie is lucky enough to get a rare curved windshield, it is just like icing on the cake. That is why the original post was trying to find curved windshields. You always want a spare set. The beauty of a Crown with curved windshields is why they are in such demand if you can find one. My tandem Crown has a curved windshield and I think it looks much better than my '88 Crown with the standard flat one.

By the way, Flxible bus owners tell me that their curved windshields can be made for them in Mexico. I bet a Crown's curved windshield could also be made down there. You can have a mold made and then available when you need it. The manufacturer in Mexico would need an original Crown curved windshield to build the mold. I am sure much cheaper down there than having an American glass company custom make it.
