Crushing defeat, or, the bus that was almost ours!

This weekend, we found our bus. It was on eBay, and, miracle of miracles it was nearby. So we set up a time to go look at it, and went over it very well. It suited us perfectly. Air ride, air brakes, air drivers seat, telescoping tilt wheel, fantastic windows, yada yada. You know the drill, everything you are looking for.
Well, I knew it would come close to busting our entire budget, so I thought I would be smart guy and use Auction sniper. Set it up, everything looked kosher. I watched it with bated breath the last ten minutes, I mean it was like friggin New Years Eve here. Countdown and all! Then, in the last few seconds, I thought maybe eBay had a lag, or something. My bid wasn't placed. Switched back over to Auction Sniper, and it says "invalid username or password".

Crushing defeat!

I was crazy with grief. My wife even liked this one. She sat in it, started it, liked the windows. They flip up, like awnings. Pretty awesome. Tinted too. Huge back window, HUGE. Just a marvelous family adventure mobile. Our future, riding in that bus. We wouldn't even have to replace anything, really. Just remove seats and go to work inside. The rear door was massive, so easy to get the dual sport bikes in. Four of them need to pass through that door, to go to Texas in about a month. It seems, that without that bus, our plans for last years vacation (yeah, you read it right) are going up in smoke.

Gone.

I feel like a huge, huge failure.

Moving on.
Gotta find another one, and fast.
My wife is upset with me. I can tell. She won't get out of bed.
I think my daughter is even disappointed.

Crud.

Might want to e-mail the seller anyway...if the winning bidder doesn't come through, he might sell it to you.

It was this one, fwiw.

I did speak with the seller today, and he told me he spoke to the buyer, a canadian (flapping jaws, beady eyes, you know) and if it falls apart, he will give me a call. I assured him I would come immediately and buy it.

I don't think I will ever hear from him again.

Boy, does THAT look familiar.

Nice bus...it's an early-98 (mechanical Cummins) & the seat configuration is different, otherwise, pretty much the same bus.

We had a couple of those at work. The general manager bought it from the company through silent auction for $1,000 bucks and sold it later to the crusher for $1,500. What a shame.
