Current rate for plywood

Hi All,

What is the current rate of plywood in your local area?

At my local Menards it is about $150 for 3/4"x4'x8' and $140 for 1/2"
I don't even want to know what bamboo ply would be...Ok I do.

I think I will be looking for a less expensive situation.

I can't explain it.

35 to 70 $USD here in VA for 1/4" to 3/4" sanded hardwood plywood.

1/2in birch is $57 a sheet at home Depot. Birch is great for cabinetry or walls.

Wow. Sucks to be on earth

Here on the sun, I've been surprised at the decent prices. Decent meaning compared to many people's horror stories. They're still high, but not $150 a sheet high.

my local lumber place has a pretty good deal on birch, 3/4" is going 75-80 a sheet.

have you'all tried the prefinish stuff from home depot? wow, not impressed for the cost or quality. its about the same, maybe a bit more $$ than my local guy. the finish is brittle, scratches easy, i thought i'd try it, but i'm not seeing a use for it.

Birch plywood is pretty prone to warping FWIW. I used it to make all my cabinet doors and some ended up so badly warped that I had to straighten them with some homegrown tensioners using 1/4-20 all-thread. That combined with the fact that I had to edge all the pieces with strips of poplar makes me wish I'd used something else. The only advantage was that it was quite a bit cheaper than proper cabinet doors.

Don't know where you live by here in Northern California 3/4" underlayment T&G is $64.50 a sheet, and 3/4" Birch Veneer is $68.

I just remember when Home Depot sold 3/4 inch cabinet grade plywood for about $25. That's what I built my bus with. It was only for a few years after the housing crash, and at Christmas time.

@turf,

We used that to construct our speaker enclosures, solely for the density/rigidity (theyr'e pretty, but they'll be concealed so I don't really care much about that). I feel the same. If I had used it for anything that was going to see some use/abuse, I would have been very disappointed. I can't set them down no matter how gentle without chipping a corner. And the finish can't be worked.

I was looking in the area where I'm working on the bus. Central Wisconsin. The prices online are still stupid high.

I had the location in the original post but I was composing it in the schoolie.net page and it ate my post, twice. I know its on me BC I know this happens. Such is life on Earth.

Once I get back to working on the bus I will look into the independent lumber yards for better pricing. Or I will talk to the locals, I know some of them have harvested and milled lumber from their properties. Maybe I can cut a deal on exchange for work, beer, & BBQ!

You lucky Dog! That was superb planning on your part. I think those days are LONG gone, sadly.

I had scads of wiring left over from building my house, and used quite a bit for the 120V receptacles in my rig.

Good thing because the cost of wiring is ridiculous now.

Yep. I have scads of 12ga romex from when I built a spec house and had to run a temp power line about 400' for the well.
I'm also a HAM radio guy and so I have scads of heavy copper wire and even some aluminum feed (the aluminum will not go in the bus).
Oh yeah, there's those hundreds upon hundreds of feet of primary wire and cables that I've pulled out of the bus....... and am currently still pulling out.

That chair takes too much skill to pull off. It is WAY out of their league.

This is actually their new driver's seat. Standard equipment on all 2022 models.
