de-rusting and painting underneath

I've got some metal brushing to do to keep the rust that is just beginning to form away.

My question is this: Where should I NOT spray the rustoleum?

There's rust on the oil pan and around the tranny, I believe, and a few other places that get hot.

Is there any place that rustoleum would catch on fire, if this is even possible?

Thanks for any tips to help me from burning down my house.

I don't think you have to worry about causing a fire, that stuff will evaporate. What I would worry about is spraying it onto rubber bushings, rubber brake hoses, and wire insulation.

If it is going to evaporate, is it worth spraying rustoleum onto the oil pan and other places that get hot?

It's just that these spots are rustier than the rest of the frame so I thought it would at least do a little preventative help.

What about using a high temp engine paint on places you are concerned about rustolium buring off? It is designed to withstand super high temp. You can purchase it most auto parts places and it's relitively inexpensive. You can just spray it on and it last a very long time. Just a thought. -Richard

One area to avoid spraying anything on to is the driveshaft, it may seem small but it can cause an imbalance that will eat up the universal joints quickly, and may cause a noticable vibration inside.

Believe it or not, I've only just taken a look under the old girl and naturally coming from Idaho she's got rust. There isn't anything nothing serious as I can see just a bunch of spotting along with caked on mud...

I can take that to any truck wash and remove the mess myself no? What do I not clean when washing the undercarriage besides the driveshaft?
