My RE Amtran is only 30’ long, so the wheel base is shorter and it’s surprisingly maneuverable and the ground clearance is good, only spot you have to carefully watch is the steps in the front passenger side.

Air ride is definitely on my mind, big time. In fact, I'm committed to it.

But I'm curious, why do you prefer straight axles to independent suspension (IS)? Is there something about a bus that is different than other vehicles when it comes to a smoother ride with IS over a straight axle? I would think that it would keep the swaying down to a minimum (if there is such a thing).
