Doing it again

Hey guys, well I am buying a 2nd bus. I need another bus like a hole in the head!

Wanted to get your thoughts on it, 1995 bluebird gas/propane 366 AT545 and 6.17 rear end. But it has 280k miles on the clock and they have no records of it being rebuilt engine or trans. But they did not own it since new. It starts right up has good oil pressure. Trans go’s into gear fine. Can’t drive it as it’s still in there fleet, was running kids Friday on the last day of school.

What’s you thoughts? My plans are a small low end conversion and since it’s only 29t long, I want to use it for local trips and I need a wheelchair lift, family member is in wheelchair. So it will be lucky to see 3000 miles a year now.

Price is scrap price 1k.

Check the blow by through the oil cap. Maybe someone else can confirm this, but while the engine is running, take the oil cap off and turn it upside down to get a little bit of an idea how the rings are, thus, an indicator of engine wear

propane

yup I'd do it. IF that has been run on propane, it is difficult to ever get it running rich... means engines last longer than on gasoline. So, yea, possible never rebuilt. Has never needed it.... I would be curious to see what hot idle oil pressure is.... 10-12 lbs at 750 rpm or so and 35-40 ish at around 3,000 rpm. timing chain might be a bit floppy....

nice find for $1000
