Door hack
I was reading peak bus’s post on electric door openers, and was wondering if anyone has done a successful manual latch at the door removing the linkage?
I figure that there is a ton of over center leverage at the end of the closing stroke that would be hard to replicate, but I know that there are plenty of creative people on here.
I like the folding doors, like being able to see through them, and I do not need to open or close the door from the drivers seat for anyone.
Seems like a mechanism could be made that would work maybe even fry the outside.
My rear door is the only way I know how to get in when the door shuts all the way.

I think I got it figured out. But y’all may have a better way.
How do you post a picture on here?

Click the paper clip button in the tool bar; in the window that pops up, browse for the pics you want to insert, then click the "upload" button on that window. Then close the popup window and click the down arrow next to the paper clip button - you'll see all the pics you added and you can click them one at a time to insert them in the text of your comment, or click the "insert all" line to dump them all at once.
Note: the paper clip is only visible in the advanced version of the editor. If you click "quick reply" you won't see it, so click the "go advanced" button.

Let’s see if this works. I lost your instructions when I got on the advanced reply screen.
I hit preview post and it looks like it worked.
Here is my bus!
Many thanks for the help!

Door closer alternative
Basically the over-center leverage of the (stock) push rod would be replaced with a long lever that would bridge the other door and at the end of that lever would be a pin that catches in a bear claw latch.
The end of the lever (with the pin) might need to be weighted so that it would get momentum to close.
The bear claw latch could work from both the inside and outside.
The disadvantage I can see is that it would interfere with the hand rail, which I like.

The only thing I would add about the pics: your pic here is in the "Attached Thumbnails" section at the bottom of your post. This is where pics are shown if you upload a pic in the popup window but then don't add an inline reference to the pic in the text of your post. If, after uploading and closing the window, you click the down-triangle next to the paper clip, you can select the pic and add it inside the text. Then the pic will appear wherever the cursor was in the edit box, instead of in the Attached Thumbnails section.
Another tip is to convert the pic to PNG format, but this is only to prevent pics from being posted sideways or upside-down. Your pics seem fine as far as that goes.

I really dont understand.. if your bus has an electric door just leave it.. and when you want to exit and enter manually you put it into emergency-mode so both doors go free.. and you have a manual door that still has both sides connected..
if you already have a manual folding door what is being gained by removing the manual dor handle? you really dont gain much storage or space by pulling the driver seat handle out.

My bus has a manual door. The electric door was mentioned because I saw someone else post about an electric door. It started this train.
You are absolutely right, removing the push pull lever is not going to free up much usable space. I was wanting a way to use the folding doors from both the inside and outside. Currently I can only unlock the door from the inside.
I can lock it from the outside by closing it smartly, but then I need to climb in through the back door to get back in.

rig a small 12 volt electric actuator to the lock lever. Put a 2 way key operated switch on the exterior of the bus to lock/unlock the door.
My bus has a electric door. It has a key switch on the outside to open and close it from outside. Sorry to say I don't have that key for now. It will be fixed to say the least.

Bear Claw
So…. I got tired of dealing with the manual door being optimized for sitting in the drives seat.
I detached the stock push-pull lever and started messing around with a street rod bear claw latch I had hanging around, and figuring out what the lever/latch would look like.
It snaps tight easily, both from the inside or out, and when the catch is released, it pops right open.
And I can link both an inside and outside handle with a lock.
So…. Fairly soon I won’t have to keep climbing in the back door to get in.

Is there an easy way to post a video?
This mechanism is pretty nifty to watch.

It is simple, basically a gate latch.
And it works when the power is out.
