door twist

I have a 92 international, and one of the mods I've done was removing the conventional (mechanical) front door opener. I ended up installing an actuator in the space above the door that hooks to the linkage connecting the two halves of the door so i can control it with a remote. This more or less works well, except the front half of the door has a slight twist. The twist seems to be intentional so that when pulling the door closed from the handle attached in the middle the door, the force gets distributed enough to the top linkage and to the other half that the door ends up closing flatly. Now that my door is being closed from the top, though, the twist is working against me and the bottom of the door does not close all the way.

Does anyone have any experience with trying to remove this twist? is it possible? or do i need to buy a new door-half? i'm not even sure where i would go for that.

Thanks for any advice I get.

Re: door twist

I had a similar thing with mine. I figured it would be pretty simple, that the door or the frame would have slots to adjust for this sort of thing, that over time the door would get outta whack after many openings and closings and it would be just a matter of readjusting the door.
No slots, just holes. I wound up drilling new holes in the frame to make the adjustment.

Re: door twist

i would check the amount of slop in the hinges first, then also see if one of the doors is out of square... after all, it worked correctly when new, so you probably have one of those two problems.
