Emergency flip up windows

We have repurposed several of the flipup emergency windows. They were extremely hard to open (flip out) the first time. I’m sure because they have been sealed closed for years. But now they don’t want to close and stay sealed anymore. Is there a trick to make these close fully and stay closed?

Trying one last time. When we have them pulled in and the red handle pushed down the red handle slowly raises up and the window begins to rattle going down the road.

I can’t imagine we are the first with this issue. Thank you!

I had the same problem. I have to push mine closed from outside the bus. Haven’t yet come up with another solution.
