End of Salt Free Buses From Wash.

Seems like the salt free deals we've gotten out of the PNW may come to an end. Wash. has started using salt and salt brine on the roads.
Check it out. It won't matter to most of us because it will effect newer buses we don't want.

The article heavily implies that is primarily limited to Seattle. Large cities like that generally have minimal school bussing and/or use bottom of the barrel contractors that get the cheapest junkiest buses available. Nothing you would want to buy from there anyway most likely.

Add WA state to the infamous national "Rust Belt".
I'd suspect there are more areas that use those insidious salty products to treat roadways out west as well, but it's always been and will remain: BUYER BEWARE when it comes to an actual purchase...

Wash/Ore have some of the best equipped buses on the market with options not found elsewhere, like automatic snow chain and better engine and trans than the cheap districts.

I will add that a lot of the urban areas in Washington state probably have contractors like First Student who get profit by cutting costs i.e ordering cheap stripped down buses.

Corporations like First Student, Durham etc will place massive orders of thousands of buses at a time. They have trouble even paying for an extra interior fan or a basic air ride seat. They couldn't even comprehend speccing out the nice toys like auto chains, driveline retarders, bigger motors, etc.

Whenever I see nice auction buses from Oregon and Washington state they're usually from smaller rural district-owned bus operations or places up in the mountains where that sort of thing is a necessity.
