Finding 12R 22.5 Tires

Hello, we have a 1971 Gillig bus we have been converting and 3 tires have blown. They are 12R 22.5 and we are having the toughest time finding used ones to replace them in the Bay Area, CA. Anyone know where we should look or also if there are alternative sizes we could use instead? One tire shop said nobody uses this size anymore so they are harder to find. New they are $350-$700 per tire and we are still in conversion phase so on a tight budget. Thoughts?

Have you tried eBay? https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=12r+22.5

I'd be interesting in hearing what tire brands are favored. More importantly- which brands to avoid.

Any suggestions?

If we all wen't so far apart, a Spring Group Buy on tires would be cool- maybe a truck tire chain?

I would give Quinlan's Tire in American Canyon a call. 707-642-3230, they deal in big equipment tires & when I used them in the past seemed very fair on pricing & were and always seemed to have a line of rigs waiting.

We replaced our 12R-22.5 with the 315/80r-22.5 Michelin XZA2 Energy tires.
Superior Tire in Salem Oregon did the work and I purchased the tires through the FMCA Michelin program.
We have driven about 6,000 miles with the new tires on all sorts of roads from freeways to rutted dirt Mexican roads and we have had no issues so far.
I did ask about the extra width and Superior was not concerned about it. I looked between the tires and there is lots of daylight.

Wasn't me.
