Flexi Tank.... Your Thoughts?

So I know I talked about this before. But I just wanted to ask again and get everyone's opinion on using a flexi tank? Like this

I might give it a try if I was doing a replacement, not sure I would start with one.

Well it says it conforms to the space, so if I had a hard plastic tank to start
And it went bad, then I could replace it with this, but not the other way around with out doing some modifications JMHO

Personally, I am not a fan of any tank without baffles. Water is heavy and moves about.

Especially when you are driving about. 50 gallons of water is more than 400 pounds. I would use it as an emergency backup.....

plastic tank is going to be easier to build into a space and secure. a lot cheaper too.

the tank is going to need a fill, vent, and drain, attachments that might be more difficult to make if the have to move with the filling of the tank.

I just can't see any positive point in installing one of those over a rectangular tank. You'll need to put a lot of effort into securing that thing so it isn't rolling around. I would even be concerned about the seams splitting during an abrupt stop. As mentioned above, water is heavy. When the bus is moving at 60MPH the water is also moving at that same speed. Braking will force all the water to one side and drastically increase the pressure at that side, potentially rupturing that balloon.
It's a fine product for a liveable boat. Boats don't encounter the same forces that over the road vehicles do, except for those few times when they are being trailered.

Are there universal tanks you can find that will fit the bill? No need to custom make....

Thanks for all the input. The main reason that I am interested in this it the fact that I can have it fit into a particular space inside the bus.

I have looked at the pre built tanks and cannot find the size and capacity that work for what I want to do.

Will keep you updated on what I decide to do.

I understand the practicality...but you can't fight f=mv2 - it is a law of physics. Have you checked from farm supply stores? Baffles are what will make the difference. I remember the last waterbed I had also had baffles, so it may be possible to find the flexi tanks that have baffles.

Ya I am going to take a look and see what I can come up with.

I had looked into baffle balls a while back, but will be doing more research as now is the time to actually buy the tanks in the next few weeks. Will keep you guys updated on what I find.

I've seen some nice tanks for much cheaper than that bag.

Check out One nation under Goat's setup... Their build thread is "Haulin Oats".
They used 30 gal plastic barrels and I've seen it in person- GREAT setup for cheap. Looks really good and fits under the bus pretty perfectly. I've got storage bays under my bus, otherwise I'd be running their setup.

Just took a look and their set up does look good.

The big problem that I am running into is free space under the bus.

This is the one I bought from this seller. It is going under the bed in the rear, I too have under carriage compartments. He has a ton of different sizes. And the guy is pretty reasonable too. I had my uncle pick it up from him so I didn't pay shipping. Next time I go to Indiana, Ill just load it up, and bring it home!!

Being that you're in Chicago, if you go out to the South Bend area, there are a ton of rv surplus places you can pick up things for your skoolie for dirt cheap!

Ya I have taken a look at a few of the places over there. Will take a look at the tank when I get home, work blocks ebay for me now.

I just need to find a tank with the right dimensions so that I can fit it in the planned location. But its looking more and more like the plans will be changing again. Good thing I never carved them into stone.

This place is more pricey, but if you want to get a custom built one, they will do it.

The collapsible bag idea is great in theory, but like everyone else, I thinks it's application would be flawed. Flooding your skoolie after a hard stop would not only be aggravating to you, but heartbreaking to the rest of us!!!
