Question Floating Floor Products

Hey all!

So we are about to start build our floor and after lots of research I知 thinking a floating floor is the way to go.. I知 trying not to make the floor too thick to save some head room so I知 looking at what could be that thermal barrier underneath our framing/insulation. I found this product at Lowes and want to know any thoughts, could this be okay to use for this? I知 thinking I壇 lie this on the metal floor directly and then put the wood framing/insulation adhesived to it, then nail the plywood into the framing? thoughts? thanks everyone!

When most people refer to floating floors in the skoolie context, they mean floating the subfloor itself... rigid sheet insulation directly on the steel floor, then (usually) plywood over that. All without any framing/studs/sleepers. Is this what you're talking about? Or are you saying you'll be floating your finished floor material later over a more traditional stud/sleeper floor you're installing now?

Regardless, shiny products advertised as thermal barriers don't do a lick of good when placed directly against any surface, including your steel floor. Real insulation is, by definition, a thermal barrier. Don't waste space with stuff like this when you could add more of it instead.
