General electrical question

here is the 64k question, do I keep a dvd, stero, and a couple tv's running on the inverter while going down the road, with generator running for a/c, or do I switch them over to straight 110v?
Thought about putting 2 outlets, side by side, and just switching when needed.
tks for any suggestions

Re: General electrical question

dvd player, stereo wont take much load from the generator. If the tv's are flat screen they might not take much. Tube tv's might take more and be more susceptible to interference from an inverter and that blocking thing to AC current.

of course this depends on if your AC is maxing out your generator to!

Re: General electrical question

I ran my 24' camper with the generator, a/c tv and sat dish, stero too. Just wondered if I could get away with it or just swap back and forth.
tks for the reply, will just have to wait and see I guess

Re: General electrical question

I don't know how you are set up, but we plug the shore power line into the genset plug to get power from the genset. That's how we run down the road & wallydock. But then our RV does not have an inverter (just a really old converter). I do know that some inverter/chargers will charge the batteries from the genset while also powering anything plugged into the inverter at the same time. Does everything AC pass thru the inverter whether you are plugged into shore power or genset? If so, then the question is moot.

Re: General electrical question

I may not explaining myself too well.
If I leave the dvd/tv//stero hooked up to the inverter, I would never have to swap them. The generator charges the batteries also.
Does that make sence?

Re: General electrical question

Tks for the replys, I have not set it up yet. That is my next move. I have to run wires before I can cover walls and build cabinets and seats. Think I will get a sine wave and a surge protector and swap back and forth as to make batteries last longer. tks again
