Re: Gray tank idea

That's an interesting idea. I think the challenges would be:
1. creating air flow and locating the fan where it doesn't get wet
2. preventing the plastic tank from melting from the heating element
3. making sure you don't evaporate ALL the liquid, and thus leave the solids (even gray water has some solids) to accumulate and get stuck in the tank
4. the high energy use associated with running a heating element

Re: Gray tank idea

Grey water stinks, there is more in grey water than just water. I would not want to have "cooked" grey water... again. High TX summer temps combined with uninsulated holding tanks resulted in a lot of the liquids evaporating out of our holding tanks. Not so bad running down the road but when we stopped, there was this nasty odor. Stop and think about what is in your grey tank.... rotting food scraps, rancid fats & oils from cooking, various meat juices (like from uncooked poultry), various detergents & soaps, toothpaste, along with whatever you washed off yourself. Ever had a sink drain stink? The grey water tank holds more than just "soapy water" and can be just as dangerous as black water in regards to the pathogens in it (like Salmonella from the raw chicken).
