@ Griff

Hey Griff those parts you sent for my water tank worked like a champ, that sure was nice of you! The bad news is the center opening will not stop leaking, it looks like I will be looking for a new fresh water tank.

You'd be amazed what that stuff can fix. If it doesn't work you're only out $5. It's a gamble I'd try.

Close! One smell of that stuff would turn you of to eating though. It's that epoxy clay that you buy in sticks just like that. I've even seen an infomercial for the stuff touting it as new and wonderous. Of course I've used it for various projects over the years so it's nothing new. All you do is cut off a hunk the size you need and knead it together. When the color becomes consistent throughout it is ready to use. You just mold it like playdough where you need it and wait for it to harden.

Re: @ Griff

Glad to know the fitting worked, Abbot! Sorry another leak has surfaced.

Something you could try on the leaking hole is a universal freeze plug sold in the help sections of auto parts stores. You may have to alter the size of the leaking hole to get one to fit, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Basically, these universal freeze plugs come in different sizes, and what they are is pretty much like the tank grommet I sent you except there's a bolt going through it. When tightened, the bolt causes the rubber freeze plug to expand and seal the hole it is put in. (Cheaper to try this than a buying a new tank. . .)

Hope this helps!

Griff

Re: @ Griff

when it comes to water weld epoxy, the only kind i've had good luck with is the jb waterweld, or jb stickweld.

i've tried several other brands and always with poor results.

being that i've had 4 different buses with jacuzzi's inside, i've had my share of water leaks to contend with. jb waterweld rocks! it can be applied underwater, or while a fitting is actively leaking....although i've found that trying to patch a pipe or fitting from the outside works much better if there is no water present. Patching things like a jacuzzi or other tank from the inside works great while it's full. the water actually helps to hold the material in place over the hole.
