Hatch door gaskets

I think that I have cured the leaking gasket on my electrical panel. It took a bunch of tries. And I am still not 100% sure.

Are there any trips or tricks that y’all can share?

I drilled a few holes so that water can get out.

I was wondering if there is something I could put on the gasket to add water tension and increase the seal 🦭 < this just popped up, too funny.

What do you mean by "bunch of tries"? What are you changing?
Is this a new gasket, or an old worn-out one you're trying to make work?
Are there dents or defects in the surface of the door and/or recess against which it sits that would prevent the gasket from sealing properly?
If you have locks like ours, they're adjustable. Have you tried tightening up the lock assembly to pull the door in tighter?
We replaced all our gaskets with new, and new locks too. After adjustment zero issues, though I can't say we've been driving through a good (any) rainstorm yet to test for sure.
I, too, made sure there was a place for water to exit the bus if/when this ever leaked.

New gaskets, but not the exact replacement.

No defects

Adjusted latch.

Tested with hose, added material. Tested each time.

Careful about seams.

I dunno. Me, I'd use the OEM gasket, but that's not necessarily a panacea.

There's adjustment at the hinge as well. Maybe it's a related alignment issue of the door/recess?

Don't think these were meant to stop strong jets of water. So is it possible your hose test is exceeding what you should expect to withstand?

What exactly are you using? Something that you have to add material to to build up doesn't sound like an optimum solution. the OEM gasket is highly compressible, so it seals fairly well across a range of gap widths.

We go through our local international dealer. Not sure what options you've got w/ your bus/location.

We've also got quite a bit of stuff from the online suppliers, including Unity Bus Parts & TAC Bus Parts.
