That's how I would do it.

The other benefit is that you raise the windows too. This is a good thing, as they are too low in a standard school bus.

If you want to retain school bus windows, this has to be the cheapest and easiest way to do it, as once the roof is up the old windows pop straight back into the holes they came from.

Seems to me a total lift below the window line is the most logical approach on Thomas buses.

Check it out. Sucks, but no- MuddaEarth's method won't work for thomas.
But you can still do it the same way he did only instead of the window line you'd cut below and raise it. Same principle, only slightly adapted to overcome the 6 degree monkey-wrench.

One benefit of a below-the-belt raise (at least to my way of thinking) is that it allows you to think about the roof raise and the window delete/skinover/relocate thang as two separate problems. Cutting through every window frame on the bus has its drawbacks, too.

OTOH, a below-the-belt raise forces you to get a little more creative with your cut line at the front and back of the bus.

Some extra rub rails could be ordered and it could look pretty close to factory if carefully done.

Good call I hadn't thought of that!
