Heaters

Hey guys! Wasn’t really sure where to post this but we just took our heaters out. We looped our out and in lines but honestly we have no clue what we’re doing. We used a 1” brass coupler to connect the two hoses and clamped them as tight as we could. We ran the bus, so far no leaks and the tubes are warm so coolant is getting through them. Did we do this right?

You did better than most actually. You can also loop those together nearer the engine. My bus never had rear heaters but there's looped heater hose up near the front on the passenger side.

If I do that do I have to mount it somewhere? I’d like it outside of the bus but I wasn’t sure if I could just leave it loose down there.

id say loop it right behind your driver heater in a front engine bus.. dont take out your driver heater unless you like to scrape windows and bundle - up in full outdoor gear while driving

I was actually going to leave the whole drivers area alone and work around it. Floor and all. Is that unwise?

I’m one who believes in keeping Factory air and heat where feasible and restoring it if need be. I did pull all mine out on one bus to rebuild the front l floor which was in sad shape, also rebuilt the factory right side heater and made a custom driver heat AC defrost since that unit was in really sad shape, I reused the cabinet and installed new stuff.

My driver area was letting lots of engine heat in summer rendering my AC next to useless in summer heat so that’s why I tore it all apart but I wouldn’t touch it if it’s in good shape

It depends on whether your bus has rust damage or not. If it's rusted then the area around the driver's seat will possibly/probably have gotten the worst of it and will need some repair work. My original plan was to leave my cab area completely untouched but the rust had other ideas.
