Help! Securing the floor issues!

HELP!! how did you secure your floor? The specialized Tek screws from brafasco are not working. My flooring layers are as follows:

1)new custom sheet metal on the holey sheet metal floor (secured with PL)
2)a layer of tar paper,
3)1/2 inch durafoam insulation
4) 5/8 inch pressure treated plywood
5) to be finished with vinyl flooring once secured.

The wings on the self drilling Tek screws seem to bore out a hole (so big the screw doesnt grip the wood) the wings are supposed to fold over after going into the sheet metal.

I tried self drilling without wings... Still no grip.

Can't use hex head self drilling because they the head would have to be recessed so deep it would compromise the ply's integrity.

WHAT DID YOU USE? LOOKING FOR SCREWS TO SECURE MY FLOOR AND SIT FLUSH. I will predrill of
I must and deal with the with the big holes ive made with nuts and bolts.

the screws have to be long enough that the 'wings' have enough room to spring open once they are through the floor - if they are flipping open there is no way they can't tighten up - just takes a lot of turns to take up the slack - if the wings don't flip open, they won't work

He's not talking about moly bolts. He's referring to the drill flutes on the screw tip.

Why is it important for the screw thread to grip the wood? If you have a sturdy base for the screw and the head is big enough that's all that's needed.

I used the Tek bolts as you showed in the picture. I did find that they really are NOT self-tapping. I drilled pilot holes a little smaller than the tip of the Tek screws and let the Tek screws tap it the rest of the way. Once they get through the metal floor, they grab well and sink right in. The "wings" make the hole in the wood slightly larger than the hole in the metal so that the whole thing tightens correctly.
