Hi All Asheville NC area Skoolie Friendly land to do the Buid

I am trying to FLEE the West Coast within the next 6 weeks... Looking for a place to land while looking for property to buy. Farm, Homestead out of town would be fine.

If you know anybody in the region that would be open to my presence on their land. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

You're a little late on that...

Interest rates are at an all-time high, and the property values are still ticking up basically everywhere. The best time to buy was a couple of years ago, when the market was a lot more flooded, interest rates were lower, and so were the property values...

But honestly, it's been a steady stream of left-coast nutjobs fleeing the shithole they voted for out into the rest of the USA for years, and it's significantly affected basically everywhere and everything. I left TX around 2014 because of the streams of them pouring in, and trying to change everything to what they were used to in CA.

Honestly, the phrase "I'm from CA" are basically fighting-words for me at this point. It's a simple matter of self-defense.

A. My Formative years were State College PA. Which I consider Home.
B. I'm leaving here because LA has never been Home.
C. I have been trying to buy in NC for 6 years but haven't been able to motivate Realtors well enough.
Which of course, ate up my savings, and now I have a shoestring budget.
Not looking in town. That won't work for me. Cost or other... Hoping to set up a small tiny home environment for 3 or 4 tiny plus me and shop storage/container/Aluminum building for a few like minded creative types.

as mentioned before.
not in the mountains but near me its not as cheap as it was a few years ago but it is still a buyers market especially for the tiny home thing and there is plenty of work to go around.
i think i remember you saying you do IT stuff? i know i can get you on with johnson controls or brady services for building management stuff with just a phone call.
we have spectrum here and metronet is creeping into the area.
sad but there is alot of farm land being sold of for different kinds of developments.
watching one up the road from me going from having some cows and goats to 8-10 tiny house stuff right now.
depending on what you are looking for there is plenty of entertainment around here and plenty of work.

How the **** did this **** response allowed to be posted on this site. Thought this site was as moderated.

Why did you leave a state that has sunshine for the wet cold winter of NC to build your bus. Its gonna piss rain the whole time.

You should have built it first then move to the farm.

Ignore him, NC mountains are a great place to live. I might retire there myself. I live at the foothills already and have mountainous property. I'm also building a bus in this rainy weather, not an issue really. I contemplated letting you stay at my property but is 100% woods and there is no place to park a bus yet. I cannot even park my own there yet, its just too soon. The property is a recent purchase. About 2.5 hrs from ashville, NC, located in SC. But I still need to clear some open space before I could do something like that, so sorry I couldn't help you in that arena. I'm building my bus in my driveway in my neighborhood. The neighbors aren't too thrilled but no HOA here so they cant do anything.

the carolinas are nice.. ive looked a bit there myself... for me lower elevations (because i like warm vs cold).. bit ive travelled the carolinas alot and really love the terrain and the people.. I did used to really love asheville.. even as soon ago as like 5 or 6 years ago we had a vintage christmas convention there and ot was beautiful.. but like many other cities, the in-town itself has gone down hill.. its trying to come back but they havent gotten a handle on the crime yet and have suffered from no office-people like many cities.. the surrounding areas? beautiful but expensive as its a popular area.. I was finding better looking deals on decent size lots into south carolina outside of columbia of course you are more susceptible to tropical weather systems the firther south or east you go..

while there are decent land deals, interest rates are a real issue if financing a purchase..im fixed rate in my house below 3% so any new purchase id mortgage was going to sugnificantly raise my payment without even gaining in principal so i said nope ill just hang onto my house in ohio and travel to warm weather for ther winters till i figure it out..

one of the things i do find though with the housing market right now even in my own neighborhood are listings that never make it to zillow or redfin or MLS.. you really need to connect with a couple realtors local to an area you want to look as many things sell so fast, the realtors have people on a watch list and save the work of all the tours and pictures and signs and such as a seller offers a property, the realtor simply makes some calls and does showings to those interested before even putting online as theres a good chance the property sells right away..

when I approached selling my house a few months ago.. 2 realtors that hang out in one of my favorite coffee shops toild me "be ready to move.. ill sell your house in hours without even putting a sign in the yard"...

All the DEALS for many years have been insider circles amongst Realtors.... Sad but true. I am well aware of how it has worked in the LA markets. Thank you for thinking of me regardless of timing and outcome.

Thank you for your input... and consideration, regardless of the outcome. I have also been looking further towards Nashville since Asheville is so far been a tough Market.

What makes it worse are all the Click-through Bait garbage land sales websites that prey on us and give nothing in return. Such a waste of time.

the websites suck! a friend of mine recently found some nice land with a house outside of chattanooga on the TN side. (recently as in a year and a half ago).. he is not in town but electricity and natural gas (amazingly) were available.. well didnt have to go super deep for good water..
