Hitch for rear engine

Hi All
I have a 98 BB TC Rear engine (8.3 Cummins), I was wondering who else has this with a hitch and would be willing to share how you did your hitch on a pusher
Thanks
David

Re: Hitch for rear engine

There are a few pictures of mine at the bottom of the page here.

I tied the bumper to the engine cradle with bolts and spacers. Probably more suited to a towed than a trailer with a lot of tongue weight.

Re: Hitch for rear engine

Mine is a year 2000 transit body BB, with Cummins 8.3 pusher. I'm trying to figure out what I'll do for a trailer hitch on this one. I had a local hitch shop build one for my last bus (a front engine); they charged $330. I felt like that was priced a bit on the high side.

I've just found the Draw-Tite model 41990 online. Looks like it can be had with 7" tall brackets online for $150-ish, plus shipping probably. The 44 inch max width is right for my frame rails, but I need to crawl under there in daylight to figure out whether the mounting brackets for this model are going to work.

It's tempting to go pick up some 3" square tube and a pre-drilled receiver tube and make my own, but by the time I locate everything, buy a 10 ft piece to use only 4 feet, make the safety chain loops, spend extra time figuring it out and assembling.. it'll probably make more sense to buy the Draw-Tite.
