How did yall know you had found "THE BUS"

Second post this week, seeking advice, opinions etc....

Basically a bus has seemingly falling in our lap, it would speed up or timeline goal very much so. Though after thoroughly digesting years worth of threads I have studied the last ten days it seems this may be "THE BUS". The issue is I haven't been around this community enough to know how often GOOD busses come up for sale or auction. It is also located very very close to me. Any feedback or direction is very appreciated!!!

There's no reward if you don't jump. It may or may not be a great bus, it won't be a perfect bus, but if you like the game it won't be your last either. Just jump and build the airplane on the way down

Before you 'jump', you should post the particulars of this bus.....model, length, engine, trans, mileage, rust issues, tire wear, price, etc.

If you came to this site for advice, you should give the folks on here something to 'advise' you about......they're plenty smart enough to keep you from potentially making a mistake.

Kudos to you.....looks like a nice bus, with high headroom to boot. Your research time was spent wisely.

Price?

Hopefully under 2K is at auction. Though from what I have learned it seems like I need to jump regardless of it was sooner than expected. I don't want to miss out on a perfect platform for us.

I doubt you'll grab it that low. Full-size shortys are getting harder to find, especially with that top-of-the-line engine.

Look at it this way........$2000-$2500 for your 'average engine and trans' bus, new tires are $1500-$2000, DT466 added value, 2500 trans added value, high headroom added value, zero rust added value. That might be a $4000-$6000 bus if there are knowledgeable bidders.

Good luck! Hope you get it.

Also figure in the savings if you don't have to go across the country to drive it home....fuel, hotels, car rental, airfare, etc. There's a little extra cash you could bid with.

This is a dog-nosed bus, right? If so, something doesn't add up w/ your length and/or interior space. Our 2003 6-window is 24' long, w/ 14 feet of interior behind the stairwell. Should be roughly 28" or so per window.

It being close to you means you should be able to inspect it before bidding, & driving it home should be far less risky than it otherwise would be. That's pretty big. Good luck!

Hey yes thanks confusion is my fault is a 9 window spec bus. Overall length is roughly 28'10 the listed body length was from International and was like windshield to emergency exit. I have inspected it thoroughly, confirmed all info listed etc...

We are extremely excited!!!!!

With a ceiling height of 6'6" you should also have windows that are 29" tall (the low ceiling buses usually have 23" tall windows). Which is awesome if you're planning to keep all the windows. If you'll be getting rid of the windows, I would like to buy a few (one of my windows is cracked thanks to some complete moron stepping on it while it was flat on the floor).

Also, if you click on User CP in the upper left you can edit your details so that people on the forum know where on the planet you are and what kind of bus you have. Helps other users tailor their answers and advice.

Yes sir! I will have multiple things for sale hopefully within the next two weeks or so. Regarding windows I know e will have at least 2 possibly 3, more than likely an A/C unit as well.

That sounds like a great bus. It is extra nice that you have already been able to check it out in person. That can make a big difference.

As for price:
I had an awesome guy for my auto tech teacher in high school and I still respect and remember a lot of what he told us. One day another student was discussing with him how shocked he was about the price for a restored first gen Bronco at the local Ford dealership. My teacher ask us how a vehicle's value is determined? After listening to a few of our comments, he told us, "A vehicle is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it."

Sorry for the long story, but the point is, if you know it is the right bus and know it will be a long time or a long distance to find a better one, then it is worth whatever you are willing and able to pay for it.
I would be shocked if that bus sold for less than $6000, but I don't know where you live.
