How far do emergency exit doors open?

I haven't gotten around to trying this out yet, but if I disconnect the hold-open bracket at the top of the emergency door, how much further will it open than perpendicular to the rear wall? Does it open all the way?

My plan is to sometimes leave my doors open with screens over the openings, but I'm going to replace the existing hold-open bracket (which doesn't work in the wind) with something like a solid rod that keeps the door rigidly attached to the back wall; just wondering how long that rod would have to be.

Not at my bus today and I was just curious about this.

Ours opened far enough (with a good gust of wind that broke the sliding bracket) that the bottom glass smacked into the tail light and cracked the window.

So yeah....all the way, until it smashes into something that stops it.

Sweet! Er, for me at least, sorry about your window (I'm sure you dealt with this long ago, but I still have the bottom glass from my door if you happen to need it).

Haven't dealt with it yet, but I did buy a piece of plexi to put in. It's still intact...just a little spiderwebey.
It's really nice to screen the opening (we have one with the magnetic closer in the middle) and be able to swing the door out and enjoy the breeze. It's great ventilation.
