How to determine drivetrain from VIN

Hi,

I’ve googled and googled but trying to find out what the drivetrain is on a bus. Trying to determine if it’s a “city” or “mountain” bus but having trouble figuring out. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

In my experience with buses you will sometimes be able to get engine info from the VIN, but rarely transmission.

The online VIN decoders may tell you what engine you have but not the transmission or rear end gears.

If you call the bus manufacturer with the vin they can look up the build sheet and see how your bus was equipped from the factory.

If it's a bluebird you can look it up on their vantage portal, vantage.blue-bird.com. it may give you engine and transmission models and/or serial numbers (which can be looked up to determine model).
