How to water proof LED markers?

Got in some new led markers yesterday to upgrade from the old ones, and they don't have any gaskets with them. Was wondering what people normally put behind them. could i just use some butyl tape?

I used lexel. Dries crystal clear and paintable.

How does that install, do you coat the back and slap it on? or put the marker on then put a bead around the outside and over the screw holes?

My new led marker lights had a gasket, so I sealed a bead around the outside after screwed in, but put lexel in the screw holes before I screwed it down. No leaks so far. But I have used this stuff to make an almost 2 inch gap bead around metal and it does a great job. I would suggest coating the back enough to get squeeze out on all sides, clean up the bead then screw down with lexel in the screw holes. Word of caution, this will stick to ANYTHING so be careful and wear gloves and don’t inhale the fumes. Standard stuff.

Is there any reason the butyl tape wouldn't work, I already have some of it purchased for my windows.

You could always give it a try, probably would work. That’s what I mounted my fan, skylight and mobile home door with. BUT I also used eternabond tape over the seams and lexel on the door mount soooooo.... lol
