I be shoppin, any thoughts?

Looking for next conversion project, considering GM shuttle bus with diesel vs Sprinter box truck 14-16ft....thinking fuel prices are going to increase so want decent mileage, GM maybe 15mpg vs Sprinter 19-20 mpg? Anyone have experience with either one, thanks!

My only experience with Sprinters is my friend had two for his refrigeration business. He had a lot of good things to say, but they always seemed to be in the shop for one reason or another. The other thing was that they are kind of a specialty vehicle and he always had trouble finding a good Sprinter specialist, and we live between Seattle and Tacoma, so we're saturated with mechanics.

So, while the shuttle bus may not get the MPG, you can probably get it fixed anywhere, find parts anywhere and do a lot of the work yourself, thereby potentially saving yourself a lot on maintenance.

I'd also think the shuttle bus would give you a tad more room to work with, while still being small enough to get around easily.

Of course, if you're looking to be stealth, nothing like a white van to spend the night parked on a quiet and safe neighborhood street.

Best of luck.

True....the chevy duramax is very well known and parts are easy to get, the sprinter gets better mpg, more complicated to repair, still a toss up, found sprinter with 16 ft box, 200,000 mi, super clean, decent price, build out camper and go.....the chevy shuttle I found needs alot of work, at a minimum, just on the chassis....thanks for the reply

Great thing about those shuttle buses, there's a lot of them out there! Best of luck.
