Arrow I Need a Bay Area Mechanic for General Bus Evaluation

Hey all! I have browsed here for a long time but have never posted. I am a student in Berkeley and own a 1980 International S1853 , Carpenter worked on, with a DT466 engine.

I have spent the past few months working on the inside when I can.

What I really need now is to take it to a mechanic to have someone look over the whole bus and let me know what I can do to improve it. For example, it shakes and bounces pretty badly (rusted shocks?), and I have never had a mechanic look over the goods under hood. I would really love to do it, but I am incredibly confounded in how to find a mechanic!

Could any of you help me out? My bus is in Richmond.

Hello & welcome

I live in SF, there's a few NorCal people on this board from what I gather.. Someone pointed out truckdown.com in another recent thread and I found North Bay Truck Center Home Page through them. I haven't tried them out yet but they have pretty solid reviews.

There is also Peterson Trucks | SF Bay Area International Truck Dealership , They're an International dealer in San Leandro. Haven't used them yet either but I'll be heading there for some warranty work in a bit.

Also, post pics or it doesn't exist :-p

I'm also looking for a reliable honest mechanic that knows buses in the bay. I'm in Berkeley and have been looking for someone to check out my 93 international. The dealership said it's too old so I can't take it there. I'm gonna check out the ones suggested above but I'd really like to hear about somewhere someone has actually used before! Or even some local head who knows diesel buses.
