Good luck! How is it going?

Just settle down boys and girls. I'm heading out in the next 1/2 hour to head to the school and pick it up. I'm not rushing anything today, like I did yesterday, taking my time so all goes my way.

Okay here's the deal, got to the bus yard filled out all the paper work, signed over the title got a bill of sale. Then went to the bus fired right up notice some things that I didn't like or no about it there was damage in the right rear corner I didn't see any of the pictures a lot of the access door latches were broken so they took quarter inch hex head screws through the door and through the body to hold them closed. These were all livable issues. I then left to start my trip home and didn't get the half a mile down the road before I realized that this thing will not shift out of second gear and is only doing 35 miles an hour at 3100 RPM, this is a major issue so I turned around and went back explain my concerns and the guy in charge said no problem we will refund your full purchase price auction fees and Bitters fees we want you to be happy and promptly refunded my whole purchase price and would have refunded my airfare if he could have but I didn't need or want that. I spoke to Cadillac kid, Chris, and he explained that it may be the computer issue not working with the transmission to take it out of limp mode., might be or not and easy fix as a fuse. But at this point I'd just rather leave this one here and go search for another one. I started searching flights home to find that my $200 flight, because I am buying on such short schedule is going to cost $455. I checked the Rent-A-Car in a rent a car would only cost $115 Plus Fuel, but they want $350 drop-off charge. As much as airfare. I called Chris who is heading out of Dallas through Oklahoma City and heading back towards Ohio. He is going to pick me up and we will share driving to Memphis we're by the time we get there in the morning I can rent a car for $215 to get me home by 3 or 4 in the afternoon, as he continues on to Ohio. So quite an eventful trip, a good learning experience, and I'm not out too much money but I'm okay with that.

You'll have a nice time, Chris is a hell of nice guy.
Better luck on your next bus.

PS- my first bus was a total turd. Seems like it takes a couple attempts to get a good one sometimes.

thats the issue with an issue like that, it coulda been as easy as a blown fuse on the allison TCM... or it couldve been a bad allison TCM or bad wiring, solenoid, etc....

by time i got there it was already night and marc's time is limited .. plus the coolant and oil leak? just seems like a misrepresented bus on the auction..

was a fun ride talkin old-school Race cars on the way! thanks for some great race stories Marc! I made it as far a bowling green ky and snagged a room... id already been san antonio to OKC yesterday then to memphis..

I learned Redbyrd can Haul A** when it needs to.. Marc was ROLLIN WHEELS!! at the helm.. no slowin that dude down... not even heart surgery!! way to go!!

If you look close, one has substantially lower miles.

It was a fun trip with Chris, saved me a in a bind. Thank you again. He told me his bus would do 70 easily and at one point I found myself doing 75 with ease. I pushed it at one point to see if it would do 80 and got to 78 before backing down. It is definitely geared correctly for highway use and surprised me to see fuel mileage better than 14+mpg. He has an interesting array of tablets for a dash with massive information available to you at all times.
I am extremely appreciative of how understanding and accommodating the school associate was, he could have told me to pound sand and get "my" bus off his lot. Not only volunteered to refund , not only my purchase price, but the auction fee and bidders fee on top of it. So the trip ended up costing me no more than if I had flown out there and checked the bus out beforehand. Could have cost me $2600+ more though.
There are some potentially good deals at the that site, and the low mileage one (40+k) is tempting. But they are in Idaho and I'm hoping to find something a bit closer to home. Kubla's Nuke bus may or may not be a deal as there has been no mention of pricing. What his plans for it are will probably take it out of my price range.
