Is metal primer for the exterior supposed to be rolled or sprayed

I'm getting ready to spray paint the exterior of my bus and my question is I'm planning on putting metal primer first am I supposed to spray that on or roll it on and do I dilute it with anything

If your gonna spray the paint then spray the primer too.

What's the can say? Rustoleum primer says not to reduce more than 10%. It didn't like to be thinned- try samples first- some of them coagulate.
