Is the International VT365 that bad?
I bought a 2006 IC CE 200 with one about 2 months ago. I had not learned of the bad things until after I got it home but alas I drive it 2 hours home and as much as I could for a month and had no issues. The VT365 is essentially the same engine (6.0L Powerstroke) you would find in an F250 or F350 of the same year. Now, with all of that being said…the first bus I looked at (and actually paid for) had the same exact engine and one day the dealer called me and told me that when they went to move it they noticed white smoke and low and behold found an issue on the intake where coolant was getting into the exhaust. So we swapped for a different bus. The only difference I noticed between the 2 busses, as far as the engine is concerned, was that the first bus had an original engine and the second had a reman engine. I had noticed that a bunch of the busses at this dealer had reman engines. Come to find out later, that engine turns out to be not so bad when it’s remanufactured. I was told the engine had some design flaws from the factory and that when they are rebuilt those issues are corrected. Hope that helps.
